Tropical Storm Oscar and The Islands Of The Bahamas Monday, October 21, 2024 3:00pm EST

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for portions of the Southeast and Central Bahamas. The Southeast islands are Crooked Island, Acklins, Long Cay, Ragged Island and Inagua, and islands in the Central Bahamas are Cat Island, Exuma, Long Island, Rum Cay, and San Salvador. 

 At 2 PM EDT, the center of Tropical Storm Oscar was located near latitude 20.6 degrees north and longitude 75.8 degrees west, or about 50 miles northwest of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, or about 140 miles southwest of Matthew Town, Inagua, or about 320 miles south southeast of New Providence (Nassau, Paradise Island). 

 The Bahamas is an archipelago with more than 700 islands and cays, spread over 100,00 square miles. The major areas in the Northern Bahamas including Nassau, Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island and Eleuthera/Harbour Islands remain unaffected by the storm. 
 
Airports and cruise ports in the Northern and Central Bahamas including Lynden Pindling Airport (LPIA) remain open and fully operational. Travelers with plans to the Central and Southern Bahamas should continue to check with airlines and hotels regarding any potential disruptions to their travel plans.
